Software

See the scan while you walk

The phone connects to the scanner over its own Wi-Fi. While you scan, the app draws the plan-view cloud and your trajectory, shows four quality metrics and the recording time left.

Monitor screen: before connecting, after connecting, and during a scan with live trajectory
Files screen: scan list, free space, copy and delete
Settings screen: LiDAR model, clock sync and onboard software update
Desktop tools: scan converter and SD Card Installer

Field workflow

From power-on to point cloud

  1. 01

    Power on

Connect the powerbank. Recording starts automatically.

  2. 02

    Hold still for 5 s

Keep the scanner flat and still, then lift it slowly.

  3. 03

    Walk the space

Follow the live map and the scanning tips in the app.

  4. 04

    Stop

From the app, or just disconnect the power.

  5. 05

    Copy the scan

To a USB drive on the scanner, or straight to your phone.

  6. 06

    Convert and process

Batch-convert the recordings on your PC and build the point cloud.

Setup

You build the hardware. We set up the software.

We flash and configure your microSD card in a short remote session with the SD Card Installer. Put the card in the scanner and start scanning.

FAQ

Questions before you build

Is OpenSLAM free?

The hardware design and STL files are published under the MIT license. Remote software setup is a paid option.

How does remote setup work?

You insert a microSD card into your PC and join a short remote session. We provide the license file and run the SD Card Installer. Then you put the card in the scanner and it is ready.

Can I pay with advertising?

Yes, if you have an audience in scanning, surveying, construction tech or robotics. Message us on Telegram and tell us about your channel.

How accurate is it?

We compared OpenSLAM clouds with total station measurements on a real site. The comparison video is on our YouTube channel.

Can I get colored point clouds?

Yes. Mount an Insta360 camera on the optional V-mount plate. The pipeline colors the cloud from the 360° footage and builds a panoramic tour.

Do you work with teams outside Russia?

Yes. Setup and support are remote, so your location does not matter.
